A spooktacular time at St Winifreds Care Home

What a fun-filled day we had at St Winifreds Care Home on Thursday 31 October for Halloween – spooktacular!

We held a pumpkin carving party, with ghoulish ghastly cakes and tea afterwards.

Our team members and residents all ensured the top priority was getting their hands in the pumpkins and pulling out the contents, while listening and singing to music. There was laughter and love shared with memories of the past, and new memories made.  Phil, Lynne’s husband, was our chief carver of pumpkins and assisted our residents with carving and drawing on the faces.

Pamela wanted a scary mouth, Tom and Ruby both liked pulling out the insides, and Brian wanted to eat the cakes with all the toppings! Maria was our chief overseer and ensured the pumpkin in her team was ready for judging. Margaret was overseeing another team, making sure that all the tables were clean and tidy for cakes!

Across our St Andrews and St Georges communities, all our residents enjoyed being involved in the ghoulish activities. At the end we held the judging of the ‘best and scariest pumpkin’ out of the four we had made, with a panel of three judges. Can you guess which was our winner?

Our freaky and fanciful scary syringe wielding Nurses ‘Ninja Nisha and Scary Sajitha’ were at the ready to support the pumpkins should they need any assistance – if their tops fell off, of if any of their accessories needed sewing back on!

Our wonderful Chef James created some homemade cakes and topped them off with creepy crawly and spooky toppings, which we all loved eating.

Our team photos really show off all our lovely spooky residents, creative husband and scary colleagues who enjoyed a fun-packed and ghoulish day!
