We had an amazing time on the last stop of our Nellsar Cruise, travelling all the way to Australia from our Care Home in Deal – without even leaving our armchairs! Our adventure began with an Australian zoo tour that made its way from our bedrooms to lounges, bringing everyone together. Along the way, we enjoyed quizzes to keep our minds active, fascinating fun facts and interactive games that had us all smiling.
We were introduced to a very special guest – an albino crocodile affectionately named Charlie by our residents. Having been well looked after on Tina’s sofa at home, Charlie was quite used to human company and even allowed us a demonstration on how to catch a croc! We also had great fun keeping our kangaroo, Joey, from hopping away by tossing hoops over him!
Some of our ladies and gents who have visited Australia shared their memories, sparking lovely conversations and reminiscence. The day was rounded off at teatime with delicious cupcakes decorated in Australian colours and flags, lovingly made by our Chef James.
We all agreed it was a fantastic day – and to make it even better, the sun came out for us too!
