We enjoyed a truly wonderful Easter at our Care Home in Deal, filled with fun and special moments shared with family and friends.
Easter Friday tea party
On Easter Friday, we hosted a delightful Easter tea party with residents, relatives and our team all joining in the celebrations. We held an Easter quiz, where teams worked together at each table to answer ten themed questions. The winners were rewarded with chocolate treats, while everyone enjoyed delicious Easter cupcakes.
Our Easter bonnet competition was a highlight of the afternoon. Claire, looking lovely in her pink top, was crowned the winner and received a beautiful Easter rabbit wreath to decorate her room. Three runners-up were awarded chocolate eggs, and all participants received certificates to recognise their wonderful efforts. To make the weekend even sweeter, chocolate eggs were gifted to everyone on Easter Sunday.
Easter nests
Our residents also enjoyed a hands-on baking session making tasty Easter nest cakes. Crushing shredded wheat, melting chocolate and mixing the ingredients provided great fun – and a little arm exercise too! The finished cakes looked fantastic and tasted even better, especially when enjoyed with a lovely cup of tea. We love baking at St Winifreds, and Easter is the perfect time for it!
Musical afternoon
During the week, we were delighted to welcome back Geoff Dean for a lively musical performance. To everyone’s surprise, our team member Tina discovered a cuddly monkey in Geoff’s bag! When Geoff asked us to help choose a name, suggestions included Cuddles, Charlie, Sweetie and Dale.
The monkey was an instant hit – giving us all plenty of cuddles and even joining in with the dancing. We had such a joyful time and are already looking forward to Geoff’s next visit and hopefully another appearance from his furry friend!
