Pet Therapy and Helping Hands at St Winifreds Care Home

Our friend Bess…

On Wednesday 15 January we have had our weekly visit from Bess our beautiful Pet Therapy dog, and her human friend Sheila, here at St Winifreds Care Home.

All our residents engaged with her so well and some were allowed to give her treats, which she very much approved of!

Bess really brightens up our day with her friendly personality and soft coat to stroke – we love making a fuss of her and look forward to her visit again next week.

Seeking socks!

This week we had a sort out of odd socks from our laundry as part of our ‘Helping Hands’ time. Helping Hands sessions offer residents a chance to do domestic tasks if they wish, which can offer a sense of purpose and achievement, and sometimes reminiscence if the task was something they used to do in their own home.

This time there were a lot of rogue socks to get through! It took most of the morning, but our residents had fun trying to find pairs to match up. Even adding lost socks to our special ‘Lonely Socks’ peg board!
