Well done to our residents and staff who created a wonderfully personal Showstopper cake for The Great Nellsar Cake Off competition, reflecting the lives of three of our lady residents.
We are delighted to have won a special award for our Creative Concept in the competition and we’ll receive a £50 prize for our Residents’ Fund, which is fantastic news! Well done everyone!
Our Recreation and Well-Being Team commented;
“Our ‘Showstopper Cake’ was based around three of our residents’ lives. Firstly Marg, who worked in catering all her life as a Marks and Spencer Cook and played bowls in her spare time at county level. Secondly, Doreen who was a landlady in four different pubs, the last pub being The Red Lion with her husband Doug. They went on together to run Pfizer’s Social Club and catered many weddings until retirement. Also Barbra, who worked in a bar in Spain for many years. So, Marg has based her half of the cake on a bowling green and the other half of our cake is based on The Red Lion pub and an outside bar!”
