Last month was the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, and how better to get involved in this on a rainy day than with some bird-related activities. Our morning began with a lively word game, as we challenged ourselves to name as many birds as possible using the letters of the alphabet – and we did really well!
In the afternoon, we rolled up our sleeves to make our own yoghurt pot bird feeders. Wearing gloves, we mixed together lard, bird seed and crushed cornflakes to create the feeders. Some residents found the mixture strange to touch, while others quite enjoyed it! It was certainly a little messy, but we all agreed it was great fun!
We’re now looking forward to watching our garden visitors enjoy our feeders and are proud to be supporting our feathered friends during the colder months.
