St Winifreds Care Home residents enjoy Deals Royal Marine Band

A busy bunch

What a busy bunch we were here at St Winifreds Care Home on Friday afternoon (12 August). We had word games, puzzles and quizzes to stimulate our mind and some of our lovely ladies had their nails done.

We even had a singalong to the Beatles and Vera Lynn, all topped off with some lovely lollies to cool us all down!

Staying cool!

Deal’s Royal Marine Band

For a long time, staff and residents at St Winifreds have enjoyed having the Royal Marine School of Music in our lovely town of Deal. We all remember hearing them practice every Sunday – what treat that was!

After a tragic bombing incident in 1989, a memorial band stand was erected in their honour along our beautiful sea front, and despite having moved to Portsmouth in 1993, the band would still visit Deal every year.

Due to COVID restrictions, they couldn’t visit in 2020 or 2021, but we were all delighted to see them back this year when they came back to play for us! How excited our residents and staff were!

Sadly, due to restrictions in our Home at this time, we were unable attend in person but we loved watching the livestream on YouTube.

We were so excited to see the band play on Sunday 14 August
